I went through my archive, tagging all images that where made in Infrared (with the Leica M8) camera. And boy, i seem to have used the Leica M8 exclusively as an infrared camera since 2012-13

Leica M8 is still a sharp rendering camera !

Another aspect that puzzles me, is how good the quality (sharpness) is with that only 10 MP camera. Sure, it has color issues - but the colors are kind of special still. Once you ironed out the issue with color casts in the corners... the camera is quite something. And i did use it heavily - so I am not too sad, that the shutter broke broke last year. It was a well used camera, and made many, many photos.

Some of them truly special. I remember PARIS in 2011, where i wandered around and mingled with people - as if i was a documentary pioneer. I had this weird, exciting "1960" feeling with me - and with it - I made some very intriguing photos in Paris.

I also remember that this special magic then suddenly "ended" after that May 2011 in Paris. Like a magic that has been taken from you - and no matter what you are trying to do - it isn't with you anymore.

Kind of weird. Kind of interesting. And difficult to put finger on.

Infrared

Notice how infrared is penetrating any haze in the main photo. This results into that the feeling of distances kind of disappears - as you can't really make out exactly where is what. In reality, it was a rather hazy day along the horizon (even if it was very clear high up in the sky).

Infrared made the landscape look scurrilous and different.

Camera shake with Leica M8 in Infrared

Unfortunately, despite the very strong sun rays - i still had difficulties to get sharp images in Infrared, because my shutter speeds where hovering between 1/30 and 1/45 - sometimes leading to slight shake. The Leica M8 isn't a true Infrared camera - but it's ultra thin cover glass (UV/IR cut filter) is with 0.5 millimeter ultra thin - which lead to that many colors got contaminated when Leica started to sell their first digital rangefinder camera in the Leica M8. (It was really a half baked camera in many aspects).
