Live comp

I used the "Live Comp" function in the Olympus OM-1 camera - together with a Gray filter factor 100000x... in order to get a "solar trail" during a 43 minute exposure.

The clouds really get funky (kind of interesting, but funky), with this kind of highlight longtime exposure (which ignores the shadows). And the trees, who must have moved a lot, became more like ghosts.

A normal (open shutter) longtime exposure would look very different. The sun would still produce a trail - but the clouds and trees would be rendered quite different. In fact, the clouds would become far more diffuse, looking more like featureless fog, traversing the sky.
