Sometimes

I look at www.mpb.com for second hand gear in photography. Especially Fujifilm GFX equipment. It startles me how many Fujifilm RF cameras are being sold second hand; a whopping 31 pieces are on display (between € 4889 and 4449 €

Fujifilm RF

It is that unique compact camera from Fujifilm, with a 102 Megapixel (MP) mediumformat sensor with 33x44mm. Equipped with a 35mm ƒ4 lens, equivalent to a 28mm ƒ 3.5 wideangle perspective - but without image stabilization. Given the huge sensor resolution... it feels weird that they didn't employ image stabilization. Sensors above 40 MP, do require image stabilization if you are serious (i would say).

Short WOW factor ?

It almost lets me to believe, that after the WOW - people kind of got rid of the Fujifilm RF compact camera. I believe that with image stabilization, it could have risen like a comet. Without it - it is a bit more like a specialty camera, whose lime light faded rather quickly - combined with the original 6000 € price tag.

Even i was totally delighted - but felt after a couple month, that the camera is far too niche. For that money, you would get a real Fujifilm GFX 100s II camera instead.

With image stabilization included. And you can switch your existing Fujifilm GF lenses on it - which of course, let's face it, is an awesome freedom. do i care that the GF camera is larger ?

No, not really.

The Fujifilm R feels more like a dead end. An exciting dead end - because it is after all a unique camera nobody ever would have dared to develop to introduce to the market. I am absolutely sure that they are working on a successor but WITH image stabilization.

Then that model will fly off the shelves, and the second hand prices will not come down quickly.

The Fujifilm GF 500mm ƒ5.6 IOS lens

I am also surprise how many of the new 500mm lenses are out there for sale second hand. Around 7 pieces. The other day it where more.

I wonder why...

Well, i would think that a 500mm lens on a Fujifilm GFX is - too - a nice product. In reality you don't use it as often. The eyes are usually much larger than common sense. How many times do i run around with a super telephoto lens ? Almost never. Unfortunately. Which reveals that my needs aren't really there. But i loved to have bought some super telephoto lenses.

But that is not the same like insight or wisdom. It is is more like "serving oneself", regardless if you need it or not. Only few people actually need super telephoto lenses.

Which is a pity.

I really love the thought of using super telephotos - and i still have that weird hunger for them sometimes. But the reality is - that i barely use them.

So. There is that.

It sucks to become a wiser adult. *LOL*

While the teenager inside you, loves (most but not all) the toys together with that Ah-and-oooh-WOW feeling. Yeah...

A plenty

Many Fujifilm GF 45-100mm ƒ 4 are available at mpb's site. The zoom is regarded to be a top notch lens highlyapprechiated by most Fujifilm GFX users. It isn't for my taste, because I already have the 55mm ƒ1.7 and the 110mm ƒ2 lenses - and i usually like brighter lenses.

The Fujifilm GF 80mm ƒ1.7 also seems to be common. There are 7 pieces for sale (all 1399 €) - which is a good price. Also here, I am not really into that lens - but it seems affordable, being half the price of those two lenses i bought last year.

On the other hand...

All the top models; Fujifilm GFX 100s II and GFX 100 II - are gone from the site. Only the older GFX 100s and the original GFX 100 are available for sale.
