New, yet simple light painting tools
I just returned the post-like office, which among other things gave me those cheaper light painting tools via Amazon. And in fact - i like them. The tubes, which are simple plastic, with a sort of patterned plastic sheet on the inside, making it look a little bit like a glow stick. Reminding me somewhat of those chemical glow sticks i started with back in 2006. The chemical ones however don't last long, and fade over time - so you need to be in dark environments. Once exhausted - it become garbage.
So for somethgin like 10 € a piece, these cheapo glow sticks, are battery driven. Treat them with care, and they will last longer, including the plastic screw which holds the batteri compartment door (for 3 AAA batteries).
The difference with these glow sticks is, that they are bright near one side, and less bright on the end. But hey - anything that illuminates - can be used for light painting.

The cool thing is
that you can indeed change the colors. Which of course, turn out differently in video and photo, comapred to the naked eye, where the color differences look more nuanced.
I have not tried them out in photos or outdoors yet. But i see potential in them. I mean for the low price - it is fun to be able to shift colors.
El-Wire
Both units worked - and compared to the ones i bought back in the days from eBay around 2010 - these have an extra adapter allowing to adapt 5 wires at the same time. (You can choose to use 1 or two or more up to 5 El-wires at the same time. Overall, these are not very bright - and are suited for very dark environments if you wish to use them for light painting. BUT - regardless if oyu use 1 or 5 wires, the glow itself doesn't change.
It has been a VERY long time I used El-Wire. And since they are so relatively weak in brightness, this might do the trick with the Olympus OM-1 camera and it's "Live-Comp" function, where i often have to reduce any light painting tool to a very low minimum, in order to expose things correctly. Perhaps these weaker El-Wires do the trick.
Also here, the colors below do not justice to the real thing. The El-wires remind me of the fluorecence of a bug. You know those that glow. It is a mystical kind of glow, never bright - and not accordingly the colors below, either. These things are driven by 2 AA batteries.

Normal light chains
Then i also added 4 light chains 2 meter, with those fairy lights on a copper thread. Driven by two AA batteries, with dot-like light sources, you can actually do a lot of fun stuff !!! See above in the main photo with Sal in Catania in the Gioeni Park.
Tags and other (simplistic) spray stuff
Why don't people use light painting instead ? You can create everything and anything, dependent on your fantasy... and it is non-destructive ! Tags are often just plain ugly and rarely anything to have. (Real graffiti on the other hand is absolutely awesome).
But why not taking the challenge to create amazing things with light ? They have a camera - well then they can do light art - and have photos afterwards. Imagine that you can do it anywhere at night. Or almost anywhere...
The options are litterally limitless.
