I just came home from work - and with it, i am now one day off. Since it has been payday... well, yiou know me... I have a flavor for transactions. With time the theme is "LIGHT PAINTING TOOLS".
Whadda surprize
EL-WIRE
I had already ordered more primitive tools via Amazon, such as the faint EL-WIRES (which Daniel and I used in Indonesia). As well at other occasions you can see below. For example we had a darkroom that was entirely dark and pretty much empty - which allowed us to do some cool light paintings for up to 5 minutes in total darkness - with among other things, EL-Wire).
The EL-Wire is a bit weird. Powered by two batteries, it generates a sort of fluorescent light in thin plastic tubes. But these are brittle. So if you use them heavily, the fluorescent "powder" will gradually break of from within, and not glow anymore. The battery compartment makes a high pitched noise - which is annoying. But for photography light-painting totally OK.
I havev not used EL-Wire for many years, so it's going to be fun. Remember, that it generates rather weak light. When we were at 2100 meter at the Bromo Vulcano in Java, Indonesia, i met the darkest skies i ever encountered (if the moon wasn't up, I mean). So, there the EL-Wire was great to use. But as soon it get's a bit brighter - it is more difficult to use because the surrounding light can start to overpower the light form the EL-Wire.
